Macau Slot betting volume in H1 at one-third of last year´s

(Macau).- The Executive Director of local instant lottery and sports betting gaming concessionaire Macau SLOT Co. Ltd (Macau Slot), Ho Chin Pang, has stated today (Monday) that due to the delays and cancellation of football and basketball matches due to the pandemic, betting volume in the first half of this year has dropped to one-third of what was reported last year, TDM Radio reported.
However, Ho underlined that despite the poorer results company did cut any employees or wages during this period.
The Macau Slot Executive Director also expected that as matches resume in the second half of this year, betting volumes could recover to similar levels reported in the same period last year.
Macau Slot reported MOP154.8 million (US$19.3 million) in net profits for the whole of 2019, a drop of some 30 per cent from the previous year.
The company holds the exclusive betting concession in the city for instant lottery, football and basketball, having had its concession contract renewed in 2016 until June, 2021.
